Caranda Wood Shaving Brush

Caranda (also known as Itin) is an exotic hardwood which is the heaviest and strongest of the mesquite family. Found mainly in South America, caranda is extremely robust and polishes to a smooth, lustrous finish.

The wood has a medium grain and although primarily brown, there are warm golden highlights and purple hues which run through it. Each handle is hand turned on a lathe before being individually sanded and finished with a water based acrylic coating. Although caranda is naturally water and decay resistant, this additional protection not only adds durability to the handle but provides a satin finish to showcase this subtle and unique wood grain.

Traditional shaving brushes were made with badger hair however due to the increasing concerns regarding animal welfare each handle has now been finished with a synthetic pure imitation badger knot. These also the have the additional benefits of being fragrance neutral, fast drying, longer lasting and, although extremely soft on the skin, they are robust, non absorbent and require less shaving cream or soap to generate a rich and luxurious lather.

In addition, by selecting a synthetic brush knot we ensure that all shaving brushes are cruelty free and ideal for use by vegan shavers
