Sgian Dubh
Literally translated as “black knife” in Gaelic due to it’s dark and chequered past, the sgian dubh is a single edged knife which has evolved over the centuries from a weapon designed to be concealed in the armpit to a ceremonial dagger.
The Sgian Dubh is an integral part of Scottish highland dress and is a traditionally worn within the kilt sock on the same side as the wearer’s dominant hand.
All our sgian dubhs are handmade using a variety of materials including reclaimed whisky staves at the end of their working life, both locally sourced and exotic hardwoods and recovered roe deer and red deer antlers
